A senior engineer asked me to skip the thinking and just make it pretty. I said no.

He had a backend half-built and a confident idea: an app to help independent teachers manage their schedules and money. What he didn't have was a single answer to who is this for or why would they switch. So before I drew one screen, I went looking: what I found reorganized the entire product around a unit nobody else in the category had noticed.

This is a case about what happens when delivery is cheap and judgment is everything.
